Overview

1. The original Bandit Hilt quest was retired, but it was brought back and updated on 3/31/2025 for ILT.
2. When applied to a melee weapon, the new Bandit Hilts require that specific weapon skill to be Specialized and each weapon skill has a unique buff.
   • Finesse Weapons get +critical strike chance and +critical strike damage
   • Light Weapons get +1 strike
   • Heavy Weapons get +1 cleave
   • Two Handed Combat gets +5 melee modifier.
   • UA Light Weapons get +1 cleave since UA can not multi-strike. This adds HW spec requirement.

Walkthrough & Notes

1. Aquire an Idol Gem from one of the Idol creatures. The Umbral Hall dungeon is a good place to find these.
2. Return to MacNiall the Unruled and give him the Idol Gem.
   • You've stamped BanditBlades!
3. In return he will give you Bandit Cousin's Letter which you must take to MacNiall's cousin MacDugal at the Bandit Castle.
4. Take Subway to AC Storage Portal, take Bandit Castle portal.
5. Give MacDugal the letter and he will give you back the Unfinished Bandit Blade Hilt
   • You've stamped BanditBladeHiltNew!}
6. Travel to 65.9N, 52.3E and kill Mountain Wanderer - careful, if you aren't using a shield, he hurts. Loot Bandit Chest Key
   • You've stamped banditchestkeylooted!
7. The chest that the Bandit Chest Key unlocks is nearby. Go to 66.5N, 53.1E and loot the Finely Cured Leather Strip
   • You've stamped BanditPommelWrap!
8. To assemble the Bouquet of Eyes, you need 4 Gromnie Eyes.
   • Combine Adolescent Ash Gromnie Eye with Adolescent Rust Gromnie Eye.
   • Combine Adolescent Ivory Gromnie Eye with Adolescent Azure Gromnie Eye.
   • Combine the two halves.
9. Combine the Bouquet of Eyes with the Unfinished Bandit Blade Hilt.
10. Combine the Unfinished Jeweled Bandit Hilt with the Finely Cured Leather Straps to create Fine Bandit Blade Hilt.
11. Apply the Fine Bandit Blade Hilt to a melee weapon and you are finished.
    • Reminder- The resulting weapon will require specialization of that weapon skill

MacNiall the Unruled tells you, "Arrr, and welcome to MacNiall's Freehold. Have ye seen them funny statue things the Mosswarts like to worship? I thinks their eyes is kinda pretty. Bring me one, and I'll see what I can do to reward ye."

Handing in Idol Gem

You give MacNiall the Unruled Idol Gem.

MacNiall the Unruled tells you, "Errukh, look at the sparkle! Look, youngster. I'll give ye this note for my cousin MacDugal. I hear tell he's taken up residence with our old gang at some place called the Bandit Castle. Bring this note to him, and he'll reward ye right."

MacNiall the Unruled gives you Bandit Cousins' Letter.

Handing in Bandit Cousins' Letter

You give MacDugal Bandit Cousins' Letter.

MacDugal tells you, "Errukh! A letter from my long-lost cousin, MacNiall! Arrr, it's good to see the old boy doing well! I ought to reward ye for this, as he says. Here then, have one of my blade hilts. I'm workin' on a way to improve daggers and light swords."

You've earned 3,000,000 experience.

Handing in Idol Gem, prior to timer expiring

You give MacNiall the Unruled Idol Gem.

MacNiall the Unruled tells you, "Oi mucker, I've already given ye the note to pass on to MacDugal! Don't tell me ye've lost it! Take this bauble back too, simpleton!"

MacNiall the Unruled gives you Idol Gem.

Retired dialog

MacDugal tells you, "Arrr! Don't bother me! I've got enough problems on me hands! Talk to my lieutenant, Jourgensson!"

You give MacDugal Bandit Cousins' Letter.

MacDugall tells you, "Errukh! A letter from my long-lost cousin, MacNiall! Arrr, it's good to see the old boy is doing well! I ought to reward ye for this, as he says. Here then, have one of my blade hilts. I'm workin' on a way to improve daggers and light swords."

MacDugal gives you Unfinished Bandit Blade Hilt.

MacDugal tells you, "Ye'll need to finish off that hilt with a pommel from the heart of an Iron Golem, but once it's done, ye can just affix it to a dagger, simi, shortsword, yaoji or rapier. Then yer blade'll be so well-balanced ye can do a fancy double or triple-strike when ye put enough skill and power into it!"

You attach the Iron Golem Heart to the hilt, making a Bandit hilt.

Update History

Now In This Hush Quest introduced. That Which Is Ours Ivory salvage can now be applied to hilted weapons. Master of Arms The Bandit Blade Hilt has been retired. Experience reward of 3,000,000 added. The Quest for Freedom Repeat timer changed from 27 days to 20 hours.
